WhatsApp has become so popular because it listens to its users. One example of that is the latest feature on which they were working on in the beta version and is now there in the official version of the app. People have been wanting to demote admin while retaining them in the WhatsApp group. Until now, you had to take the long way where one of the admins had to first remove the desired admin from the group and then add them to the group again. With the latest update, you can directly remove admin rights on WhatsApp without removing from group using the new Dismiss as admin option on Android and iPhone.
Update: The feature was initially only rolled out on the WhatsApp beta version (2.18.13). However, now it is made available to the official Android and iPhone app.
Dismiss Admin On WhatsApp Without Removing From Group
Note: The steps and screenshots used here are from the Android app but there isn’t any difference for the iPhone app.
The Dismiss as admin option will only be available to the group admins. So, if you are one then here’s how you can demote another admin.
- Launch WhatsApp and open the desired group conversation.
- Tap on the group name at the top to go to the Group Info screen.
- Next, tap on the name of the admin you wish to demote under participants.
- On the next menu, select Dismiss as admin.
In a couple of seconds, the person’s admin rights will be removed and will be transferred to a normal group member.
Don’t forget to update the app to the latest version to get this feature. Apart from this, the latest version also allows you to restrict group members from changing group info.
The new feature makes it possible to remove admin rights on WhatsApp while keeping the person in the group. Is it something that will be useful for you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and also share this guide to let others know about the latest update.
