If you want to learn how to monitor calls and texts from another phone, the solution is simple – use a parental monitoring app, such as Qustodio. These apps are usually premium software that allows you full access to the data on a target phone, including calls and text messages.
Have you ever wondered how to track your young child’s phone calls and texts to help keep them safe? There are several ways you can monitor your child’s cell phone activity to ensure everything is as it should be.
It’s a method I’ve used before, and it can be especially important when the child is really young. 3 Ways To Track Calls & Texts From Another Phone
The ability to track your child’s calls and texts can be a lifesaver. Younger children are now more than ever exposed to harm with the ubiquitous presence of technology. This means they can sometimes come in contact with sketchy people.
For younger children, keeping an eye on them in every way possible can be the way to protect them from danger. It’s important to know who your child talks to and what they talk about so you can help protect them as they grow up.
Personally, I try to have frank discussions with my brother about his friends, their conversations, and how he feels about them. A parental control app has also helped me curate his online experience and help him build better boundaries with technology.
However, I try not to be too invasive or restrictive. It’s important that while you monitor, you ensure that you create a balance so your child still has some privacy.
For this article, I’ll show you how to use three parental control apps, Qustodio, mSpy, and uMobix, to monitor incoming and outgoing calls and text messages from another phone or your computer.
Qustodio
Qustodio is a parental control app that’s beloved by many parents thanks to its bevy of features, easy-to-navigate UI, and child-friendly design. Many parental monitoring apps can sometimes forget that they’re designed to help keep kids safe. They’re not just built to help parents watch their children like a hawk, but it seems that Qustodio kept that in mind with its design.
In regards to features, Qustodio offers quite a few that can help parents not only monitor their children but also be proactive in protecting them.
Qustodio has a Daily Time Limits feature where you can set your child’s daily screen time allowance for the day. You can also restrict access to the target phone during specific times of the day, such as when they should be sleeping. Qustodio also offers Web Filtering to help you curate what your child sees online.
This monitoring and filtering are not only limited to the web either. With Qustodio, you can monitor apps on your child’s device as well as block or allow access to those apps. You can also set time limits for select apps as well.
No parental monitoring app is complete without location tracking and Qustodio is no different. In addition to a GPS tracking system, there’s also a Panic Button that your child can use in the case of an emergency.
The panic button will send a notification to trusted contacts whenever your child presses it so that if you can’t reach them, another trusted contact is able to.
Now, let’s focus on the main feature of this article, Call and SMS Monitoring. With Qustodio, you’ll be able to view the calls and texts that your child sends and receives on their phone. While for most parents, this feature isn’t necessary, it can come in handy when your child is being harassed, bullied, or manipulated. Being able to tell who is harassing your child and putting a stop to it can save them before it’s too late.
Pricing
Qustodo offers both a free and a Premium version. The app is also available for Families as well as Schools, however, for this article, I’ll only focus on the pricing for Families.
Qustodio offers three plans for Families:
- Small
- Medium
- Large
The Small Plan costs $54.95 per year and allows you to link 5 devices to your Qustodio account. The Medium Plan costs $96.95 per year and allows you to link up to 10 devices. The Large Plan costs $137.95 per year and allows you to link 15 devices to your account.
In terms of compatibility, Qustodio has the widest range among any parental control app on the market. It is compatible with Android, iOS, ChromeOS, Windows, and Kindle.
Qustodio also has a free version with limited features as well as a 3-day free trial for its Premium Plan. Read our full Qustodio Review to learn more about this impressive parental monitoring app.
How To Track Phone Calls And Text Messages With Qustodio

- To the left, scroll down the menu and click Calls & Messages to view the calls and messages on your child’s mobile device.

mSpy
mSpy is one of the most renowned spy apps on the market. The access it gives you to a target phone is almost unparalleled. This is what makes it such a great option to track phone calls and text messages. However, what makes mSpy great is that its features don’t just stop at calls and text message tracking, it offers loads of other features too.
When you subscribe to mSpy, you’re able to view almost all of the data on the target phone. mSpy allows you to view the media files on your child’s phone. This way you can keep track of the type of media they’ve downloaded or are sharing.
mSpy also has a Keylogger feature that tracks all of the things typed on the mobile device This can also come in handy to help your child find forgotten email addresses or passwords, take my word for it.
As mentioned before, a parental control app is nothing without GPS tracking and mSpy is no different. On top of being able to view your child’s GPS location, mSpy also has a geofence feature that you can use to create safe and forbidden zones.
There’s also a Wi-Fi tracker that can also help with determining your child’s location. These can all come in handy for keeping track of your child as well as locating them in case of an emergency.
mSpy doesn’t stop at Wi-Fi tracking, you can also use it to block the target device from connecting to the Wi-Fi. Some parents may use this feature when they ground their kids, though I personally don’t agree with it.
Another feature that I think all parents will find useful is the ability to block specific apps and websites. We all know that there are certain websites your child should never see, so blocking them is a great way to proactively protect your child’s innocence and keep them from adult content.
mSpy also offers social media monitoring, as well. This means you can monitor your child’s social media feed, chats, and more. While many parents try to keep their children off of social media, kids can sometimes be sneaky. So monitoring their activity is one way to reach a compromise.
Lastly, mSpy allows for tracking the calls and text messages sent and received on your child’s device. It allows you to view the number that was called when it was called and the length of the call.
While these are a lot of great features, it’s not all that mSpy has to offer. Read our comprehensive write-up on mSpy to find out more.
Pricing
Unlike Qustodio, mSpy doesn’t offer a free trial or a free plan. To begin tracking calls and text messages, you’d need to subscribe to mSpy’s Premium. There are three subscription plans available:
- 1-Month – $48.99
- 3-Month – $27.99 per month
- 1-Year – $11.66 per month
mSpy is only compatible with Android and iOS devices, as opposed to Qustodio, which is also compatible with ChromeOS, Windows, and Kindle.
While there isn’t a test trial for mSpy, there is a free demo you can test out on the mSpy website.

uMobix
Another terrific spying app that you can use as a call and text message tracker is uMobix. This spy app is relatively new to the market, but it offers some impressive features that can beat out some of the best spy apps out there.
First up, uMobix offers standard GPS location monitoring features. You can use this to view the location of your child’s device (which not only works for finding your child but also locating it if it’s lost or stolen.) Similar to mSpy, you can also use uMobix to view the WiFi networks that your child’s cell phone is connected to.
You can also use uMobix to view your app activity on your child’s cell phone. This feature also allows you to block an app, which can work great for protecting your child from any malicious apps or inappropriate content.
uMobix has a keylogger and a screen recorder feature. The screen recorder takes random snapshots of the target phone’s screen and sorts them. Therefore, you can view screenshots of social media apps, YouTube, and other apps on a cell phone.
There’s a social media monitoring feature that, as mentioned, makes use of the screenshots that the screen recorder has taken. This is a way to make sure that your child’s social media messages are appropriate. uMobix monitors a long list of messaging and social media apps including Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Reddit, and Discord.
When it comes to tracking phone calls and text messages, uMobix has that covered too. You can use it to view the call logs on the target device, as well as view all the text messages in full. uMobix also has an exclusive 10% discount available for its call tracker as well as a 10% discount for its SMS tracker.
uMobix also has an Audio Stream feature that allows you to record up to 20 minutes of audio using the phone’s mic. This means you can use it to record a phone conversation or your child’s surroundings if they’re in danger.
It’s important to be mindful of laws regarding wiretapping though, as I only recommend these features be used to protect your children and nothing else.
These are only some of uMobix’s features. Read our full uMobix Review to learn more about this spy app.
Pricing
uMobix is compatible with both Android and iPhone devices. When it comes to pricing, there are currently two price tiers, Basic and Full Subscription. These price tiers are available in three subscription plans, however, they differ for each Android and iOS.
The Basic plan costs $29.99 for 1 month and it’s the same for Android and iOS. However, price differences occur with the Full subscription. For iOS, the Full subscription costs are as follows:
- 1 month – $49.99
- 3 months – $79.99
- 12 months – $149.99
The Android plans cost a bit more as there are more features for uMobix on Android than on iOS. The costs for the Full subscription plans for Android are:
- 1 month – $59.99
- 3 months – $$99.99

uMobix currently doesn’t offer a free trial, however, there’s a free demo on the uMobix website.
