Apple rolled out Portrait Mode with iPhone 7 Plus back in 2016. It allowed users to capture impressive photos of objects, food or people by blurring the background. After that, most of the smartphones be it Android or iPhone had this mode built in the phone’s camera natively. However, if your phone still doesn’t have it then Instagram is here to help. With the latest update, Instagram has released Portrait like Focus mode in its Camera. For the users who already have a similar mode on their phone’s camera can use Instagram’s Focus mode for more options. In this guide, we share simple steps to use Portrait mode on Instagram from Android or iPhone.
Focus Or Portrait Mode On Instagram
The steps to access Focus mode are more or less samilar to accessing Superzoom or other modes in Instagram app camera.
Make sure you update to the latest version of the Instagram app before following the method below.
- Open the Instagram app and go to its camera. You can do so by tapping on the Camera icon at the top left or by swiping right on the news feed screen.
- In the camera screen, you will see different modes at the bottom. Swipe left on them to see other modes. On our device, we found the Focus between Superzoom and Rewind.
- Select Focus once you spot it. Next, capture desired photo. The focus mode works with both front and rear camera so you can flip the camera to use the preferred camera if required.
When you have taken the picture, you can post it to your story, send it to your friends privately or save it on your phone. Here’s one which we took using Instagram’s Focus mode.
Note: If you don’t see the Focus mode even after updating the app then it is most likely that it is not supported on your phone. If Focus mode is supported on your phone and still you don’t see it then you need to be patient. The feature is rolling out slowly worldwide.
Do try out this latest mode and don’t forget to share your experience in the comments.
