Ever since Instagram launched Stories back in August last year(2016) users have been itching to get the face filters like Snapchat. Much to the delight of users like you and me Instagram have finally added face filters in a recent update. I got know about this from Kevin Systrom’s(Co-founder of Instagram) Instagram post. So, if you want to turn your selfie into something exciting and funny then you can go through this article to know how to use face filters on Instagram. It isn’t so hard anyways.
Use Face Filters on Instagram Stories and Posts
In order to use the added face filters, you need to update the Instagram app to the latest version from the respective app stores.
After updating the app follow the steps mentioned below.
1. Launch Instagram app and tap on the Camera icon at the top left of the news feed screen. Alternatively, you can also swipe right on the Home screen.
2. Performing the above screen will take you to the Instagram Camera screen. With the latest update, you will be able to see a face filter icon at the bottom right corner. Tap on it.
3. Focus a face on the Camera and tap on the different filters to try them out. Once you are happy with the filter click the picture.
4. After this, you can either post this selfie with face filter to your Story or send them privately to desired users.
You can also save the image to your smartphone’s Gallery or Camera roll by tapping on the Save at the bottom left corner before sending it to your story.
If you have posted the story then open it. Tap on the 3 dots at the bottom right and select Share as Post… to post the selfie with face filter as a photo on your profile.
On the same menu, you will also get an option to Save the image to your smartphone. So, you can tap on it to save it from here as well.
Here is one of the filters I found different and good among others while trying them.
Personally, I did not find the filters that great or amazing when compared to Snapchat. But at least they added a few. With time, we can expect much better face filters added on Instagram.
