A few weeks back WhatsApp rolled out the option for preventing group participants from changing Group Info – subject, icon and description. To improve group experience even more another option has been introduced. This time around the popular messaging app has rolled out the ability to stop group members from sending messages on WhatsApp. Thus avoiding any spam or plethora of useless messages.
The feature is rolled out for both Android and iPhone and is available on the latest version of the app. According to WhatsApp, the new addition will encourage organizations and communities to use WhatsApp groups for one way communications. So, let’s find out how to use it.
Prevent Group Members From Sending Messages On WhatsApp
1. Open WhatsApp and select the conversation of the desired group for which you are an admin. The option will only be accessible to Group admins.
2. When inside the group conversation tap on the group name at the top to go to Group Info screen.
3. Now, tap on Group Settings.
4. Here select Send messages.
5. In the pop-up window select Only admins and tap on Ok to save the changes.
With this, only group admins will be able to send messages to that group. Here’s how the conversation screen will look like for group participants who are not the admin. They will be blocked or locked out from sending messages.
Similarly, you can stop group members from sending messages on WhatsApp for other groups of which you’re an admin if desired.
You can always change the setting and allow all the participants to send messages from the same place.
WhatsApp is continuously leveling up its game. And it is not leaving groups behind while doing so. They also added a handy option to demote admin which allows you to remove admin rights of a group admin without removing them from the group.
