Facebook launched its live video streaming feature in August 2015. This was a significant addition to Facebook which allowed users to stream videos in real-time. Initially, the feature was only available for VIP users in the US. Earlier, this year in January, the feature was launched for all the users in the US. And now, it has rolled out for all users in India.
Live video feature helps Facebook to fight Snapchat. As a matter of fact, there are 100 million hours of videos watched on Facebook per day and it isn’t live. So, it is definitely going to enhance user experience and make connecting with friends and family, even more, fun.
With live videos, users can easily share the moments instantly. Live videos appear on the News Feed similar to other posts and users can comment and even give reactions in real time. The feature is available for both Android and iOS app.
To use the live streaming feature, tap on What’s on your mind? and select Live Video for iOS and Go Live in Android app. Both work the same way and allow you to stream live video. Earlier the feature was only available for a few hand-picked Indian users but now everyone gets hands on this feature.
Live Video button is also expected to come in Messenger app too. This would help users to start streaming from the messenger without having to open another app and at the same time it will assist Facebook in promoting the feature.
There is no denying the fact that videos are the best way to connect on social media. Because of which Twitter and Instagram have increased the length of video which can be uploaded by the user.
